The largest annual gathering of independent craft breweries in the Lone Star State takes place at Fiesta Gardens in Austin. The Texas Craft Brewers Festival showcases more than 70 Texas craft breweries, including local favorites like Austin Beerworks, Live Oak Brewing, and Real Ale Brewing Company, alongside emerging breweries from across the state. Festival-goers can sample over 200 different craft beers, from classic styles to innovative small-batch creations, while food trucks serve local specialties like smoked barbecue, tacos, and gourmet grilled cheese. Local bands perform throughout the day on the riverside stage, with past performances featuring Austin musicians like White Ghost Shivers and Soul Man Sam.
 
The family-friendly event typically draws more than 5,000 attendees who can enjoy lawn games, craft vendor booths, and educational sessions about brewing techniques led by Texas brewmasters. Special features include a VIP area with exclusive beer tastings, a commemorative tasting cup for all attendees, and the beloved "Meet the Brewer" tent where visitors can chat directly with Texas brewers about their craft.


Big Texas Beer Fest: April
 
This annual craft beer festival has become a cornerstone event for beer enthusiasts in North Texas and beyond. Held at the Dallas Market Hall, the festival features over 90 breweries pouring more than 450 unique craft beers, including local favorites like Deep Ellum Brewing, Peticolas, and Community Beer Co. Attendees, typically numbering around 5,000, can sample everything from traditional lagers to experimental barrel-aged stouts while enjoying food from local vendors serving artisanal pizzas, gourmet sliders, and food truck specialties. Live music adds to the festive atmosphere with local bands performing throughout the day on the main stage, including sets from Dallas-based rock group Ottoman Turks and blues artist Justin Pickard.
 
A designated VIP area offers exclusive access to rare and limited-release beers, while the main floor features interactive games, brewery representatives available for questions, and a dedicated cider section. The event includes a popular people's choice award where attendees vote for their favorite brewery, plus special tasting sessions focusing on specific styles like sours, stouts, and IPAs.

More than 100 talented chefs, restaurants, and beverage artisans gather to celebrate North Texas' diverse food culture at the region's largest culinary event. Dallas Chefs for Farmers Food and Wine Festival, hosted at the historic Dallas Heritage Village, draws approximately 2,500 attendees who sample creations from notable vendors like Petra & The Beast, Roots Southern Table, and Carte Blanche. Guests enjoy everything from elevated street tacos and house-cured charcuterie to craft cocktails featuring local spirits and an extensive selection of wines from Texas and global vineyards.

 

Local jazz ensemble The Texas Gentlemen provides live entertainment throughout the day while guests explore themed areas like the grilling pavilion and artisanal cheese market. The festival highlights sustainable farming practices through partnerships with over 50 local farms and ranches who supply ingredients to participating chefs. A unique "Chef's Garden" feature allows visitors to learn about urban farming techniques and sample fresh produce directly from on-site growing demonstrations.

 

Houston World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest: February

 

This three-day cook-off event draws barbecue enthusiasts from across the globe to NRG Park, attracting over 250,000 attendees annually. The Houston World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest features more than 250 competitive cooking teams who showcase their skills in categories including brisket, ribs, chicken, and Dutch oven desserts. Local favorites like Blood Bros BBQ, Tejas Chocolate & BBQ, and Truth BBQ compete alongside teams from as far as Australia and Germany, with many teams creating elaborate themed party tents for guests. Festival-goers can enjoy live performances from Texas country music stars including Cody Johnson, Tracy Byrd, and Kevin Fowler across three stages.

 

Beyond the competition meats, visitors can sample craft beers from Saint Arnold Brewing Company and Texas wineries, while food vendors serve everything from classic sides like mac and cheese to unique items like brisket egg rolls. The event includes a carnival midway, interactive games, and the Champion's Row exhibit where visitors can meet winning teams from previous years and learn their smoking techniques.

Grapevine GrapeFest: September
 
Texas's largest wine festival draws over 260,000 visitors annually to the historic Main Street District of Grapevine. The four-day celebration features more than 40 Texas wineries pouring hundreds of varietals, alongside international wines from regions like Spain, Italy, and Argentina. Local establishments like Messina Hof Winery, Bingham Family Vineyards, and Cross Timbers Winery offer tastings while guests enjoy culinary pairings from 75 artisanal food vendors serving everything from wood-fired pizzas to gourmet chocolates. The festival's signature events include the People's Choice Wine Tasting Classic, grape stomping competitions, and the GrapeFest Tennis Classic, all accompanied by live performances from regional bands on multiple stages throughout downtown.
 
Carnival rides, arts and crafts exhibitions featuring 200 local artisans, and a dedicated KidsWorld area with face painting and interactive games make this a true family-friendly event. The festival's unique Champagne Terrace offers premium tastings of sparkling wines and champagnes, while the adjacent Liberty Park Plaza hosts cooking demonstrations and wine appreciation workshops.


Galveston Island Wine Festival: August
 
This annual celebration draws wine enthusiasts from across Texas to the majestic Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort. Over 50 premier wineries showcase their finest vintages, including selections from Haak Vineyards and Messina Hof Winery, with the signature Penguins & Pinot Grand Tasting serving as the festival's highlight event. Festival attendees, typically numbering around 2,000, sample gourmet food pairings from local restaurants while enjoying panoramic beachfront views, featuring a specially curated flight of Pinot Noir varieties paired with seafood dishes.
 
Live jazz performances and acoustic sets create an elegant atmosphere as guests explore wine education seminars and cooking demonstrations throughout the venue. Local artists display their work in a dedicated gallery space, while master sommeliers lead guided tastings of rare and limited-release wines. The VIP lounge offers exclusive access to reserve wines and specialty champagne tastings, along with chef-prepared hors d'oeuvres.

Texas Spirit Festivals are an annual celebration of some of the finest libations the state has to offer, including whiskey, bourbon, vodka, and tequila.

SETX Whiskey Festival: January
 
This must attend premier spirits gathering held at the Beaumont Civic Center, draws whiskey enthusiasts from across Texas every year. The sprawling 30,000-square-foot venue hosts more than 100 distillers, offering guests the opportunity to sample from an impressive collection of over 400 premium whiskeys and bourbons. Attendees can engage directly with master distillers and industry experts while participating in sophisticated tasting sessions throughout the event. The festival features high-end prize giveaways, including opportunities to win rare and collectible bourbon and whiskey bottles.
 
The SETX Whiskey Festival has established itself as Texas' largest bourbon and whiskey event, with a significant charitable impact. Since its inception in 2022, the festival has generated more than $650,000 in donations for Cure Rare Disease, a nonprofit biotech organization developing genetic medicines for life-threatening conditions.


The Texas Whiskey Festival: April
 
The largest craft spirits gathering in the Lone Star State drew over 800 whiskey enthusiasts to the Long Center in Austin. The festival showcased 35 Texas-based distilleries including Still Austin Whiskey Co., Garrison Brothers, Treaty Oak Distilling, and Desert Door Sotol. Local food vendors served gourmet bites like smoked brisket sliders, artisanal cheese boards, and chocolate truffles specially paired with select whiskeys. Live music kept the crowd moving with performances by Austin's own Gary Clark Jr. and soul band Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears.
 
Festival-goers will be able to enjoy guided tastings, mixology demonstrations, and a VIP lounge featuring rare single-barrel selections and master distiller meet-and-greets. A highlight of the event was the craft cocktail competition where 12 top bartenders from across the state competed to create innovative drinks using Texas-made spirits.
